He served with the West Nova Scotia Regiment from 1940-45 in England, France, Belgium, Holland and Italy. He was discharged on September 22, 1944. He was awarded the 1939-43 Star, the Italy Star, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, the France and Germany Star, Defence Medal, Medal of Remembrance – Liberation of Holland. John passed away on April 24, 2005. Submitted by the Yarmouth Branch # 061of The Royal Canadian Legion BOUTILIER, Chester Carlyle WWII Carlyle was the son of Louis and Lillian (Murphy) Boutilier. He was born on November 9, 1917. He served in the RCAF in the supply trade in Montreal, Camp Borden, and Angus, Ontario, enlisting in 1942 and attaining the rank of sergeant. During the war, he was a guard in Montreal. He was discharged in 1945. He later re-entered the RCAF after the war and served until 1968. Carlyle passed away on February 15, 1990 in Angus, Ontario. Submitted by Port Morien Branch # 055 of The Royal Canadian Legion BOUTILIER, George Elmer WWII George was born in Port Morien, Nova Scotia on May 30, 1915, the son of Louis and Lillian (Murphy) Boutilier. He enlisted in the Army in 1942 and was discharged in 1946. He was a member of the Black Watch Regiment, which served in Holland, France and Germany. He took part in the liberation of Holland in 1945. Elmer received the 193945 Star, the France and Germany Star, and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp. He worked all of his life as a miner but he was known in the village as the unofficial barber. George passed away on December 23, 1995.
