He received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and the 1939-1945 War Medal. Reginald was a member of the Hants Co. Legion Branch # 009 for 12 years before he passed away in 2008. Submitted by the Hants Co. Branch # 009 of The Royal Canadian Legion BURKE, Christian WWII Christian, son of Lawrence and Alice (Nearing) Burke, was born in Port Morien, Nova Scotia on July 26, 1922. He joined the Army as a mechanic in the spring of 1942 and was discharged in 1946. Private Burke served overseas in Italy and Holland. While in Italy, he met his brother, Private Gerald Burke, and wrote a letter home telling their parents of the meeting. Christian passed away on January 31, 1979. He enlisted in the Army on July 21, 1941 and attained the rank of private. He worked as a craftsman, mechanic, and pipefitter until his discharge in 1945. He served in Italy, France, Belgium, Holland, Germany, and England. He received the Italy Star, the France and Germany Star and the Holland Medal. He married Evelyn (Norris) Burke. He was a Life Member of The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 60, Burlington, Ontario. Gerry passed away on December 24, 2002. Submitted by the Port Morien Branch # 055 of The Royal Canadian Legion
