Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion www.ns.legion.ca 45 CAMPBELL, Katherine Mary “Katie” WWII Katie was born in Port Morien, Nova Scotia on June 27, 1909, the daughter of Dan and Maggie (Smith) Campbell. She served as a cook in the Army during the Second World War from 1943 to 1945. She served in Halifax and Ontario. Katie passed away on May 27, 1989. Submitted by the Port Morien Branch # 055 of The Royal Canadian Legion CAMPBELL, Muir Weldon PEACETIME Muir was born in 1944 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He served during Peacetime with the Army as a member of the Royal Canadian Black Watch. He served with the 2nd Battalion in Cyprus and NATO and with the 1st Battalion in Germany and the U.N. Submitted by the Colchester Truro Branch # 026 of The Royal Canadian Legion CARRIGAN, Daniel Maxwell WWII Max was born on June 22, 1919 in Westville, Nova Scotia. He enlisted in the R.C.I.C. on June 4, 1940 with the West Nova Scotia Regiment 3rd Brigade. He joined the Pictou Highlanders in 1940. Max arrived in the United Kingdom in May 1942. He disembarked Sicily on November 8, 1943 He was promoted to Lance Corporal on December 6, 1944. He was killed in action on December 16, 1944 at age 25. He is buried at Coriano Ridge War Cemetery in Italy, Lot X-A-6. He was awarded the 1939-45 Star, Italy Star, Defence Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, and War Medal.
