Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion www.ns.legion.ca 57 COCHRANE, John Redmond WWII John was born in Port Morien, Nova Scotia on August 17, 1917, the son of Seymour and Emma (Donovan) Cochrane. During the Second World War, he served as a private with the Cape Breton Highlanders. He married Mary Amelia Hawley. John passed away on June 9, 1986. Submitted by the Port Morien Branch # 055 of The Royal Canadian Legion COCHRANE, Michael Earl WWII Earl was born in Port Morien, Nova Scotia on September 7, 1921, the son of Michael and Mary Agnes (Doyle) Cochrane. He served as a Gunner in the 2nd Anti-tank Regiment, 108th Battery, No. 3 gun. Earl sailed to France on the Ocean Vision, landing in Normandy the day after D-Day. He was in Cologne, Germany when the war ended. Before his death on May 4, 2004, Earl proudly received the Medal of Remembrance for the liberation of Holland. Other medals he received include the France and Germany Star and the Normandy Medal.
