Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion www.ns.legion.ca 71 DORAN (DOIRON), Raymond William WWII Raymond was born in Charlos Cove, Nova Scotia on Nov. 8, 1913 to Frank and Flossie Doiron. He enlisted in the Canadian Army on March 25, 1943 and was a Lantz Corporal with 103rd and 53rd Coastal Brigade and was discharged on Feb. 22, 1946. He served in Newfoundland and Canada. For many years he was the Bartender of Torbay Branch # 117. He held office as Sgt. of Arms, Membership and Poppy Chairman. Raymond died June 7, 1988. He will be remembered and respected for his years of service. Submitted by the Torbay Branch # 117 of The Royal Canadian Legion DORT, Alfonso James “Fawn” WWII Fawn was born in Cole Harbour, Guys. Co., Nova Scotia. He was the son of the late David and Lilia (O’Leary) Dort. He was a retired commercial fisherman, a long standing member of Torbay Branch #117 and member of Army Reserve during the Second World War. He was married to Mamie Myers and they raised 5 daughters and 5 sons. Fawn joined the Torbay Legion on May 28, 1949 and became an Honorary Member in 1978 and was a Life Member. Fawn passed away on December 24, 1992 at the age of 93. He will always be remembered and respected for his years of service. Submitted by the Torbay Branch # 117 of The Royal Canadian Legion DORT, David Luke WWI David was born in Cole Harbour, Guys. Co, Nova Scotia on Aug. 2, 1897 to William & Margaret Dort. He was with the 42nd Battalion – Quebec Regiment with the Canadian Infantry Force. David was killed in action on May 8, 1919. His name appears on the Halifax Memorial in Point Pleasant Park. David is buried in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Port Felix, NS. His grave is considered Commonwealth Cemetery. He will be remembered and respected for his ultimate sacrifice for his country.
