Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion www.ns.legion.ca 91 GRAVELLE, Roland Joseph PEACETIME Rollie was born in Ottawa, Ontario on August 18, 1929. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Navy in October 1947 and was honourably discharged on October 1952. Rollie and his wife, Kathleen (Munroe) moved to Whitehead, NS and joined Torbay Branch # 117 for 13 years, but they returned to Ottawa where their children lived. Rollie passed away in 2009. He will be remembered and respected for his years of service. Submitted by the Torbay Branch # 117 of The Royal Canadian Legion GRIFFIN, Charles Joseph “C.J.” WWII Charles was born in 1917 in Donkin, Nova Scotia. He joined the Army with the North Nova Scotia Highlanders C Coy during the Second World War. He served in England, France, Germany and Belgium. Charles was wounded by a sniper in Falaise, France. He was also a D-Day Veteran during the Holland Liberation on June 6, 1944. Charles passed away in 1998. Submitted independently GROVER, William Charles WWII Bill was born in Cole Harbour, Guys. Co., Nova Scotia on December 30, 1918 to John and Elizabeth (George) Grover. He was a retired fisherman and a veteran of the Second World War. He enlisted September 4, 1942 serving with the Royal Canadian Army Artillery, 2nd Survey Regiment. He served in Canada, UK, and Continental Europe. He was honourably discharged March 11, 1946. He transferred to the Torbay Branch in August 1948 and was a long standing member. He married Elsie (Birch) and they raised a daughter and son. Bill passed away on October 10, 1993 at the age of 75 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Guysborough. He will be remembered and respected for his years of service.
