He enlisted in the Navy and served during World War II and in Special Duty Areas on the Prince Robert in Hong Kong in 1945 and in Canada and on the High Seas. He was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, 1939-1945 War Medal, France and Germany Star and the Defence Medal. He resides at the Veteran’s Wing of High-Crest Nursing Home in Springhill, NS. Bertram is a Life Member of the River Hebert Branch 14. Submitted by Peace Branch #060, The Royal Canadian Legion HAVILL, Bruce WWII Bruce was born in Halifax in 1924. He enlisted in the Air Force and served as Aircraftsman 1st Class in Canada during World War II. He was released for medical reasons and received no medals. He was a member of the Hants County Branch 009 for three years. Bruce passed away in 2007. Submitted by Hants County Branch #009, The Royal Canadian Legion HENSHAW, Lawrence W. WWII Lawrence was born on December 5, 1921 in Bear River, NS in 1921. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force on August 30, 1941 and was honourably discharged on October 16, 1945. During that time, he served in Canada, the British Isles and North Africa. He was a Flight Sergeant and received the Italy Star, Defence Medal 1939-1945, Wireless Air Gunner Badge and CVMSC Medal and clasp.
