He enlisted in Halifax in 1939 with the North Nova Scotia Regiment. He served in Italy during World War Two, and also served during the Korean Conflict. WWII Kenneth was born on May 10, 1919 in Windsor, NS. He served with the 1st Battalion of the Royal Canadian Engineers. Kenneth passed away on March 13, 1989. Submitted by Hants County Branch #009, The Royal Canadian Legion HIGGINS, Percy Dexter WWII Dexter was born on October 4, 1921 in Stellarton, NS. He joined the Pictou Highlanders in September 1939. He transferred to the North Nova Scotia Regiment and took his basic training in Amherst, NS. His theatres of war include Canada, United Kingdom, and North West Europe. He arrived in the United Kingdom on July 31, 1941, and was then sent to officers’ training school on April 4, 1944, completing the course on November 16, 1944, as Commissioned Lieutenant. He disembarked for France on March 16, 1945. Dexter was killed in action on April 15, 1945, at the age of twenty-three. He is buried at Holten Canadian War Cemetery in Holten, Holland: Lot I-H-5.
