Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion www.ns.legion.ca 11 AWALT, Fredy George WWI Fredy was born in Mahone Bay on 3 May, 1896, and enlisted in the CEF in Halifax on 12 June, 1915 - he was in England two months later. He declared that he had served 9 months with the 75th Regiment. He served in France with the 13th Bn and suffered gunshot wounds to his left forearm on 10 September 1915. He was hospitalized on 16 June, 1916, with shell shock and again on 24 September with shrapnel wounds to his left hand. He was discharged in Halifax on 22 March, 1919, with the rank of lance-corporal. Submitted by Zone 13, The Royal Canadian Legion BAKER, James E. “Jim” WWII Jim was born in Westville, NS in 1924. He was the son of Edgar and Sarah Baker. During World War Two, he served as Private with the F Battery Artillery as Gunner in the Canadian Army. He served in the United Kingdom and Continental Europe. His decorations include the 1939-1945 Star, France & Germany Star, and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp. Jim was a member of the Overseas War Veterans Branch #035. Jim was married to Henrietta Dykens. He passed away on January 10, 1988. Submitted Independently. BAKER, Owen Charles WWII Owen was born in East Jeddore, N.S. in 1921. He served in the Navy aboard H.M.C.S. Margaree in the Royal Canadian Navy Reserve as Able Seaman. Owen died at sea in 1940.
