He enlisted in the Air Force and served as Maintenance / Weapon Tech in Summerside, PEI; Stanley, NS and Vancouver, BC during World War II and Korea. He was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and the War Medal 1939-1945. Fraser passed away in 2015. Submitted by Peace Branch #060, The Royal Canadian Legion MacLEAN, John J. WWI John was born on January 1, 1894, the son of John and Elizabeth (MacNeil) MacLean of Washabuck Centre. He enlisted in the Army and served in England and in France during World War I. He died of wounds received in the battle of Amiens on August 11, 1918, one day after Captain M. W. MacKinnon. He faced the same battles. He embarked at Halifax on March 31, 1916 on the SS Adriadic, was posted to the 26th Battalion (NB) on June 28, 1916, and arrived in France on November 16, 1917. He was wounded on August 8, 1918, the first day in the battle in which four Victoria Crosses were awarded to Canadians; Pte. MacLean received wounds in his back, left arm and head. Submitted by Gardona Branch #124, The Royal Canadian Legion MacLELLAN, John Neil WWII John Neil MacLellan, son of Angus and Cassie (MacLean) MacLellan of Ottawa Brook, enlisted in the Army on March 11, 1940 with the Royal Hamilton Light Infantry in Hamilton, Ontario. He left Halifax on convoy E55 on July 23, 1940 and arrived in Gourock, Scotland on August 2, 1940. He was promoted to Cpl. and went to the Dieppe raid (Jubilee operation) on August 19, 1942 and was reported missing. He was reported dead on February 11, 1943 (killed in action) and as buried in Communal Cemetery Equihen Plage near Calais, France.
