He joined the Merchant Navy when he was seventeen years old. He toured on the Acadia and Saguenay. He and his wife, Jean, lived in Gaetz Brook, NS for forty-five years. He was a Founding Member and Life Member of Eastern Marine Branch #161, The Royal Canadian Legion before he passed away in 2005. He enlisted in the Army in June 1918, and served in Britain and France. He was discharged in July 1919 in Halifax. Arthur Passed away in February 1986. Submitted by Family. MINARD, Sterling George WWII Sterling was born in Liverpool, Nova Scotia in 1920. He enlisted in the Army and served with the RCASC in Canada and in England during World War II. He received the Defence Medal, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and the 1939-1945 Star. He was a member of Legion Branches in Ontario, Lunenburg and Mahone Bay for twenty years.
