Harry passed away on November 16, 1996. Submitted by Hants County Branch #009, The Royal Canadian Legion TUPPER, Allister Robertson WWII Allister was born on April 19, 1918 in Stellarton, NS. He served with the 2nd Battalion North New Brunswick Regiment from January 10, 1941, until June 22, 1942 in Canada and overseas. He joined the R.C.N.V.R. at Halifax the next day. He was posted to H.M.C.S. Cornwallis on June 27, 1942. He was drafted to H.M.S. Niobe, Scotland, on March 21, 1943. On September 2, 1943, he was drafted aboard H.M.C.S. Athabaskan. On April 29, 1944, Allister was lost at sea at the age of twenty-six. His body was never recovered. His name appears on the Memorial at Point Pleasant Park in Halifax, NS. He was awarded the 1939-45 Star, Atlantic Star, C.V.S.M. and clasp and the War Medal. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force on January 1, 1941 and served in Canada, the United Kingdom, and Europe as a Wireless Operator Air Gunner. He was killed when his aircraft exploded during night flying training in Beaufort on August 20, 1942 at the age of twenty-six. He is buried at Dunure Cemetery in England: Section E, Grave 191.
