He enlisted in the Navy and served in Canada, on the High Seas and Korea during the Korean War and in Peacetime. He served on HMCS Cayuga (Destroyer), HMCS Digby (Mine Sweeper), HMCS Sussexvale (Frigate), HMCS Miramichi (Wooden mine sweeper), HMCS Cape Scott (Depot Repair Ship – 2 postings), HMCS Outremont (Frigate), HMCS Algonquin (Destroyer) and HMCS Nipigon (Destroyer). He also served on the shore bases HMS Cornwallis (training base), HMCS Naden (west-coast training base), HMCS Aldergrove (Radio station), HMCS Shearwater (Air base), HMCS Stadacona (training base), CFS Newport Corners (Radio Transmitting base), DCIM Downsview, ON (Defence & Civilian institute of medicine) and FMG Halifax, NS (Fleet maintenance Group – HMC Dockyard). WWII Charles was born in Saint John, NB in 1921. He lived in Hantsport from a very early age, doing all of his schooling there. He served the Royal Canadian Air Force with NAV 429 Squadron and 121 Squadron. He flew thirty-five trips over Germany in Halifax bombers. He flew in the Battle of Berlin. Charles was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion for twenty-five years when he passed away. He is buried in River-Bant Cemetery in Hantsport. He served the Army with No. 6 District Depot, C.A., R.C.A.F.C. in Canada, the United Kingdom, and Continental Europe.
