Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion www.ns.legion.ca 33 BURGOYNE, Arthur Bennett Arthur enlisted in the 1st Depot Bn of the NS Regiment in Halifax on 16 April 1918. Upon enlisting he noted that he had two years of service in the Halifax Composite Bn. Arthur arrived in England on 27 July, 1918, and was quickly posted to the 87th Bn in France. He was wounded and declared medically unfit for service on 30 November 1918. Arthur returned to Canada and was discharged in Halifax on 5 June 1919. His son Laurel would serve as a pilot in the RCAF during WW II. Arthur died in 1966. Submitted by Zone 13, The Royal Canadian Legion BURGOYNE, Dawson J. F. WWII Dawson was born in 1909 in Mahone Bay, N.S. He joined the Army and served with the Lorne Scots in England and Italy. He was a member of the Mahone Bay Legion Branch #049 for thirty years. Dawson passed away in 1976. Submitted by Mahone Bay Branch #049, The Royal Canadian Legion BURGOYNE, Donald A. WWII Donald was born on December 23, 1911 in Mahone Bay, N.S. He joined the Air Force and served in Iceland. After his war years, he had his own plumbing, heating & electrical business and spent his entire life in Mahone Bay, where he was an active member of the community and served in many community organizations.
