He joined the military on August 19, 1942 and served overseas with the West Nova Scotia Regiment and the Royal Corps of Signals until 1946. He served in Italy, Canada, Europe and the United Kingdom, experiencing the Italian Campaign and the Liberation of Holland. He was a 45-year member of The Royal Canadian Legion, Colchester Branch #026. Les passed away on May 5, 2006. He enlisted in the Canadian Army (NRMA) on February 3, 1944 in Toronto, Ontario. He served in Canada, Britain and North West Europe. He received the France-Germany Star, and War Medal 1939-45. He was discharged on December 24, 1946 with the rank of Private at Long Branch, Ontario.
