He never told his family he was in the Special Forces, only that he was in the Canadian Army, “Royal Canadian Artillery”. He certainly kept his Oath of Secret to the Department of National Defence. He served with the 141st Battery, Victoria B.C. in Canada from 1949 to 1952. Lawrence passed away in 2015. The Legion Branch 34 knew Lawrence and they held a tribute service for him. Submitted by Normandy Branch #034, The Royal Canadian Legion COCHRAN, Wilfred Northrup WWI Wilfred served in the Canadian Army Medical Corps as a captain. He enlisted in the CEF in Halifax on 6 December, 1916, declaring that he was a physician; had been born in Scotch Village on 1 July 1877; and that his next of kin was his wife Louise Cochran of Mahone Bay. Dr Cochran initially served in a military hospital in Halifax and later served in France and Belgium with the 8th Field Ambulance. He died in Mahone Bay in 1932 of a heart condition.
