He served with the West Novies from 1942 to 1946, fighting in Italy and Europe. He was a Life Member with MSM and Palm Leaf. He had 40 years of Legion service at the time of his death in 1991. Submitted by Kings Branch #006, The Royal Canadian Legion CROSSLAND, Maynard Laendar WWI Upon enlisting Maynard stated that he was born on 8 March, 1897, in Clearland (this appears to be a false statement as his brother would have been born one month before him). He was a cooper by trade and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Crossland of Clearland. Maynard enlisted in the CEF on 10 November, 1915, noting that he had 2 months service as a militia artilleryman in the 1st Siege Battery.
