He served with the Halifax Rifles in England, Belgium, France, Italy, Holland, and North Africa from 1940-1945. He belonged to Hants County Branch #009 of The Royal Canadian Legion. Charlie passed away on May 16, 2003. Submitted by Hants County Branch #009, The Royal Canadian Legion DEAL, Cornelius Owen WWII Cornelius was born on November 23, 1917 in South Rawdon, Hants County, NS. He joined the R.C.N.V.R. in March 1942. He served on various ships, and was on board HMCS Athabascan when it sank in April 1944. He was taken Prisoner of War, and liberated in May 1945 from Marlag, Germany. Cornelius passed away on November 30, 1990. Submitted by Hants County Branch #009, The Royal Canadian Legion DEMONE, Ray James WWI Ray was born on 2 December, 1891, in Upper Cornwall and enlisted in the 112th Bn on 31 March, 1916, in Bridgewater. Upon enlisting he noted that his next of kin was his mother Mrs. Levina Demone of Upper Cornwall; that he was a farmer by trade; and that he had served as a reserve soldier in the 75th Regiment. Ray served in France with the 18th Company of the Canadian Machine Gun Corps. Later in life he became a member of the Royal Canadian Legion and died in 1963.
