Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion www.ns.legion.ca 5 ALBRECHT, John Frederick WWI John was born in Mahone Bay on 23 December, 1897, and was a school teacher there before enlisting. He was the son of Mrs. Elizabeth Albrecht of Mahone Bay. John enlisted in the full time militia of Royal Canadian Garrison Artillery (RCGA) on 26 March 1916 in Halifax and spent 2 years at the Sandwich Point Battery outside Halifax prior to transferring to the CEF on 22 June 1918. He was discharged in Halifax on 21 December 1918 with the rank of corporal. Submitted by Zone 13, The Royal Canadian Legion, The Royal Canadian Legion ALCORN, Murray “Glendon” WWII Glendon served the Royal Canadian Army with the West Nova Scotia Regiment in Europe and Italy. He was killed in action on August 9, 1943 in Sicily, Italy, and is buried at Agira Canadian War Cemetery in Sicily. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force on November 27, 1941 in Moncton and served in Canada and Labrador until his discharge on February 28, 1946. Copp passed away on June 5, 1985.
