Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion www.ns.legion.ca 75 EICHEL, Spurgeon Dimock WWI Spurgeon enlisted in the 249th Bn on 28 March 1917 in Regina. He declared that he had been born in Bridgewater on 24 April 1895 (in fact he had been born in Maitland) and that his next of kin was his father Nathan Eichel of Bridgewater. He served at the front with the 1st Canadian Mounted Rifles and suffered a penetrating wound to his left lung in September, 1918. He was discharged in February, 1919, as ‘unfit -wounds.’ In 1932, while living in Chicago, he became an American citizen and died in Tennessee in 1967. Submitted by Zone 13, The Royal Canadian Legion EISENER, Artemas Leo WWI Artemas was living in Mahone Bay when he enlisted,as a lieutenant, in the 219th Bn 28 July, 1916, in Halifax. Upon enlisting, he declared that he had been born in Lunenburg on 21 April 1891; that he had reserve experience in the 1st Siege Company; and that his next of kin was his mother Mrs. David Eisener of New Cornwall. He was discharged as ‘surplus’ in October. In March, 1918, he enlisted as a private in the 1st Depot Battalion of the NS Regiment and was discharged in August of that year. Submitted by Zone 13, The Royal Canadian Legion EISENHAUER, Glynn WWI Glynn was born in Martins River on 6 March, 1895, and, after two months as a reserve RCGA gunner, he enlisted in the regular RCGA on 28 March 1917. He stated that his next of kin was his mother, Mrs. Bessie Eisenhauer of Somerset, Kings County, NS.
