He served the Canadian Army with the West Nova Scotia Regiment in Europe and Italy. He was wounded in action. Bill was a member of Bear River Branch #022, The Royal Canadian Legion for thirty years before he passed away in Clementsport, NS in 1997. Submitted by Bear River Branch #022, The Royal Canadian Legion ERNST, Leo A. WWI Leo was born in Maders Cove on 12 August, 1895, and enlisted in the RCGA of the CEF on November 10, 1915, in Halifax. He declared that his next of kin was his father, Titus Ernst, of Maders Cove and that his calling was that of a farmer. He was posted to the St Lucia Battery. He died on 26 May 1967. Submitted by Zone 13, The Royal Canadian Legion ERNST, Naaman Amos WWI Naaman was born in Blockhouse on 4 June, 1893, and enlisted in the 112th Bn of the CEF on 6 December, 1915. Upon enlisting he declared that he was a barber by trade. Naaman was transferred to the Royal Canadian Regiment on April 20, 1917. On 6 June, 1917, he suffered a gunshot wound to his left leg. In March, 1918, he was admitted to No6 Canadian Casualty Clearing Station with a gunshot wound to his face. Naaman returned home with the rank of lance-sergeant and was discharged in Mach 1919.
