Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion www.ns.legion.ca 7 ALLEN, McKeen “Mack” WWII & SPECIAL DUTY AREA Mack was born in Northport, Nova Scotia in 1912. H enlisted in the Air Force and served in Canada and in England during World War II and in Special Duty Area. He was killed on January 31, 1943 in a crash while returning to England from Germany. He is buried in Dishforth Cemetery in Northern England. He was awarded the Italy Star, France and Germany Star, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp and the 1939-1945 War Medal. He served with the R.C.A.F. during WWII and traveled the world in the Merchant Marine before and after his Air Force service. Don worked for Tidewater Construction of New Glasgow from 1947-1952; moved to Stewiacke, N.S. where he operated the Superline Oil garage and service station, which he later bought and operated under the Petrofina & Esso badges until his retirement in 1992. Don passed away on June 16, 2006. Submitted by Colchester Branch #026, The Royal Canadian Legion ASH, James H. WWII James was born in Monastery, Antigonish County, NS.
