Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion www.ns.legion.ca 97 GRANT, Angus Bernard “Bernie” WWII Bernie was born in New Waterford, Nova Scotia in 1926. He enlisted in the Army and served in the Provost Corp in Canada during World War II. He was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp and the 1939-1945 War Medal. He was a member of the Hants County Branch 09 for 53 years. Bernie passed away in 2011. Submitted by Hants County Branch #009, The Royal Canadian Legion HALLAMORE, Charles Kenneth WWI Charles was born in New Cornwall on December 15, 1896. He was living in Mahone Bay when he enlisted in the 219th Bn on March 13, 1916. He declared that his mother, Caroline Hallamore, was his next of kin and that he had 6 months service with the composite artillery battery in Bear River. He served at the front with the 85th Bn and was wounded during the attack on Vimy Ridge and again on June 19, 1917, at Lens. Kenneth would survive being buried alive during some fierce shelling and would be invalided home due to shell shock. Submitted by Zone 13, The Royal Canadian Legion HALLAMORE, Sidney Raymond WWI Sidney enlisted in the 25th Bn of the CEF on January 5, 1915, in Halifax. He was born in Middle Cornwall on September 24, 1894, and became a lumberman. Upon enlisting he declared that his mother Mrs. C Hallamore of Middle Cornwall was his next of kin. He lost a leg during the war and became a charter member of Branch 49 Mahone Bay of the Royal Canadian Legion. He died on November 17 1967. Submitted by Zone 13, The Royal Canadian Legion
