He served in the Army during World War II in Italy, France, Germany, North West Europe, Britain, Canada, and Central Mediterranean. He received the 1939-1945 Star, Italy Star, France and Germany Star, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp and War Medal 19391945.
