Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion www.ns.legion.ca 179 CROCKER, Robert Douglas SPECIAL DUTYAREA Bob was born on June 3, 1938, to Ernest and Mary (McLellan) Crocker of Glace Bay, Nova Scotia. He was educated in Glace Bay and attended the Sea Cadets and Reserve Army at the Glace Bay Armoury. Bob then joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1956 at the age of eighteen and took basic training in Cornwallis, NS. He served at bases HMCS Stadacona and HMCS Hochelaga in Quebec. Throughout his ten-year enlistment, he was an administrative writer deployed both at sea and ashore. He served on HMCS Chaudière in 1959, HMCS Cape Scott and HMCS Scotian this alternating with shore assignments at Stadacona. Leaving the navy in 1966, Bob moved his family to Sydney, NS where he was self-employed and served one term on city council for North End Sydney as alderman. Bob earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from CBU, a Divinity degree from Thorneloe University, Ontario and lastly Ordination into Ministry. A member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 12 in Sydney, he was honoured with his Padre Stole in 2019 for recognition from the Legion and the Naval Veterans Association. His is a thirty-year Member of Sydney Branch 12. Bob lives a reduced life of mobility due to Parkinson’s Disease at the Cove Quest Home in Sydney. Submitted by Family DUNN, Arthur Augustus WWI Arthur was born in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia on November 9, 1897. He served during World War I with the 8th Siege Battery RCA and 9th Siege Battery RCA in France and in Russia. Arthur was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 61 from 1925 until his death in 1966. Submitted Independently ELDRIDGE, Victor Eugene WWI & WWII Victor was born in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia in 1897. He served during World War I with the 40th Battalion, 24th Battalion and 25th Battalion CEF in France and in Germany from 1916 to 1919. Victor was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 61 from 1925 until his death in 1972. Submitted Independently
