He enlisted at Halifax on November 18, 1940, training in Brandon, Manitoba. He served in Medicine Hat, Alberta. He was shipped overseas from Halifax in November 1941. He was stationed in Britain, Limavady, Ireland, Bengali, and Egypt. He was posted to Malta, where he and his crew flew a Wellington bomber in Coastal Command.
