Three months later Chief Officer Percy Ambrose Kelly, MBE, was the master of SS Lady Drake when it was torpedoed and sank about 110 kilometers north of Bermuda. Six crew members and six passengers were lost. Percy Kelly, 114 crew members and 141 passengers were picked up by USS Owl (AM 2) and put ashore in Bermuda.
