DAGLEY, Wayne S. PEACETIME Wayne C. Dagley was born in Bridgewater on May 13, 1963, to parents Duncan and Doris Dagley. He grew up in Crouse Town and Italy Cross, Nova Scotia. Wayne enlisted in 1981 at the age of 17 in Bridgewater and went through recruit training at Cornwallis, NS. Upon completion of basic training, he was sent to Chilliwack BC for training to become a Combat Engineer and once completed was sent to CFB Gagetown 22 Field Squadron. A few years later, he was posted to Range Control EOD and Maintenance for two years. In 1985, he remustered to Ammunition Tech. After completion of training was posted to 1 Svc Battalion Wainwright. He was then posted to 1 Svc Battalion Calgary in 1989 to 1993. In 1993, he was then posted to CFAD Dundurn, Saskatchewan until 1998 then was again posted to CFB Shilo until 2001. Wayne was released from the Reg Force and returned home to Nova Scotia and joined the Airforce Engineer Reserve Unit 14AEF as a Plumbing and Heating Technician for the next two years. Two years later seeing the grass wasn’t greener on the other side, he reenlisted in the Regular Force and posted to the Naval Construction Troop. In 2005, he went back to being an Ammunition Tech at CFAD Bedford in hopes of getting deployment overseas. He got his wish in 2005 and again July 2006 to March 2007 in Afghanistan. His last posting was to 4ESR as a Plumber until his permanent retirement after 32 years from the Canadian Forces in 2012 to accept a maintenance job at the Nova Scotia Community College in Bridgewater. His tours were Cyprus - January 8 to July 17, 1991; Eritrea - May 19 to June 30, 2001 - Afghanistan 2005, 2006 and 2007. In 2025, he joined the Royal Canadian Legion, F.E. Butler Branch 44 Chester. For his service, Wayne received the, CD2, UN Cyprus, Canadian Peace Keeping Service Medal, General Campaign Star South-West Asia and General Campaign Star- Afghanistan.
