FULLER, Maurice Ralph “Mike” SPECIAL DUTYAREA Mike was born in Summerville, NS in 1930. He joined the Canadian Army, Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers in 1952 and completed basic training at CFB Kingston, ON. He completed his trade training as a vehicle technician at CFB Kingston. Mike’s first posting was to Camp Takhini, a military base near Whitehorse, Yukon. The base was home to the Northwest Highway System Headquarters. Other postings were to CFB Halifax (Willow Park) NS, Camp Aldershot, NS (Royal Highland Regiment, 2nd Battalion Black Watch), CFB Gagetown, NB (Royal Canadian Dragoons), CFS Alert, NU, CFB Gagetown NB (C Sqn 8th Canadian Hussars) and CFB Chilliwack. He was also posted overseas to the Middle East (Egypt) Sinai Peninsula. Mike had Reserve Service in Windsor, NS with the 47th Anti-Tank Regiment. On May 4, 1979, Mike retired at CFB Chilliwack as Master Warrant Officer completing a total of 28 years. He received the United Nations Emergency Force Medal, Canadian Peacekeeping Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with Silver Bar and Maple Leaf, and Canadian Forces Decoration. Mike has been a member of The Royal Canadian Legion for 51 years currently at Hants Co. Branch 9. He resides in Windsor, NS. Submitted by Hants Co. Branch #009, The Royal Canadian Legion HACKETT, Michael “Mike” PEACETIME Michael was born in Lamaline, NL on March 13, 1939. He enrolled in the Royal Canadian Air Force Reserve (Fighter Control Operator Group 1) in Halifax (Gorsebrook Barracks), Nova Scotia, fromApril 1956 until August 1956. On September 12, 1956, he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force, Regular Service. He completed Basic Training in Base Militaire St. Jean, Quebec. He was transferred to RCAF Station Clinton, Ontario for trade training in Basic Electronics. Prior to completion, he transferred trades and completed his training as anAero-engine Technician at RCAF Station Camp Borden. Michael was posted to CEPE/AAED RCAF Cold Lake, Alberta for seven years. He was posted overseas to 3 (Fighter) Wing – Zweibrucken, Germany for five years. After this tour, he was posted back to Canada to 15 Wing, RCAF Station Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan for seven years. His next posting was to CFB Shearwater for six years, gaining sea time while attached to HMCS Annapolis (DDH 265). Michael retired from the Air Force while in Shearwater, Nova Scotia in August 1982 as a Sergeant. He served for a total of 26 years in the Canadian Armed Forces receiving the Canadian Forces Decoration 1st Clasp (CD1). Michael has been a member of The Royal Canadian Legion for nine years. He currently is a member of Hants Co. Branch 9 and is active in the Poppy Campaign.
