Presentation of the First Poppy to the Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia

The Royal Canadian Legion Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command President, George Della Valle, on behalf of all Members, presented the first poppy of the 2025 annual Poppy Campaign to the His Honour, the Honourable Mike Savage, ONS, KC, Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia. The presentation took place at Province House on October 20 2025.

The Poppy Campaign is the foundation of The Royal Canadian Legion’s Remembrance Program.

Through the generosity of fellow Canadians,  funds raised in the distribution of poppies are held in trust at each level of the organization.  Poppy Funds are used solely to provide assistance to Veterans of all ages and their families,  which includes serving Military and RCMP,  and,  to foster the tradition of Remembrance.

Formally founded in 1926, The Royal Canadian Legion is the largest Veterans based community service organization in Canada with more than 260,000 members in some 1,400 Branches across Canada,  the US and Europe.

The Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Campaign begins the last Friday in October each year.
